Business Problem

The Missouri University of Science and Technology is seeking a tough business problem for our MBA students to solve.  The MBA program ties business theory to real-world problems and we are willing to put a cohort of eager MBA students to work on your business problem.

The MS&T MBA faculty will review your specific business problem and create custom exercises for the students.  The students will study your industry and gather other information that may be needed to help address your problem, then directly tackle your problem.  In order to bring out the students’ best work, multiple teams will compete to create the best solution for your company.  We will evaluate all the solutions and select the two best.

The top two teams will visit your company and present their solutions to the relevant stakeholders so that you may decide on the best solution.  Your company will cover travel expenses for these two teams.  The students will be available to present their solutions.  The date will be coordinated with you to ensure it works for all stakeholders.

We are willing to consider all types of business problems, but preference will be given to the projects that require analysis of market feasibility and introduction planning for a new product or service.  Examples of other problems that would be considered are launching a new department, manufacturing or operations streamlining, market research, supply chain management, e-commerce, facilities development, and human resource development. Selection criteria will include the likelihood of the problem being solved in the time period available and the need to draw upon and integrate more than one business discipline.  Our program integrates the business disciplines and our students are trained in a cross-functional approach.   This project will provide the students an opportunity to apply this cross-functional approach to a real project.

Please send your problem to Dr. Lance Gentry via email at gentryl@mst.edu ( downloadable fact sheet)
